• The sitting/dining room has an open fire, comfortable seating and sea views. There is appropriate antique furniture of the period throughout the house.
• A TV room also has a CD/DVD player and well stocked library.
• The fully equipped kitchen has been completely modernised but we still have the base of the old coal range, which once provided both heating and cooking facilities in a bygone era.
• The separate laundry has both washing machine and dryer and plenty of storage for extra luggage and golf clubs.
• The house is electrically heated for off season use.
• A barbeque is available on request.
• The beach, a stone’s throw from the cottage and currently home to a resident Kiwi (that nocturnal bird), provides safe swimming that is particularly attractive given the sub tropical climate of Northland.
• Secluded Cottage was built in 1917 as a holiday hideaway long before there was any road to the area.
• It is constructed from local New Zealand timber such as Kauri and Rimu and the restored interior is completely lined with these timbers recycled from previous old buildings.
• The owners are descendents of 19th Century settlers and early New Zealand history is reflected in a collection of water colours displayed in the house and painted by the great, great, grandfather of the present owners.
